When Wolkyshop got in touch and offered me a pair of shoes to review, I have to say, I hadn’t heard of them. Then I realised why. They’re a popular dutch brand that have just opened their first shop in Brighton and are only recently available online in the UK. Their USP? Shoes and trainers that are designed for walking. Without compromising style. ‘Feet love our shoes,’ they say.
They have a huge range. And I mean HUGE. There’s something for everyone, that’s for sure.
I was immediately drawn to the Quebec in anthracite leather (it also comes in white snake, taupe and gold leather). Because they were amongst the most contemporary, I have a crazy fetish for anything ‘animal’ and I thought they’d go with most things. Plus I love the chunky white sole. It reminds me of the Superga flatform range I’ve always coveted.
When they arrived, I was surprised at how substantial they were. Heavy, even. Probably because most of the trainers I wear are £20 from H&M and only going to last one season, if that, once my busy life as a mum of three is done with them.
These, however, are going to last YEARS. I can tell. The white sole is TOUGH, as they promise. And they are seriously comfortable (they have footbeds made from memory foam so they mould themselves to the shape of your foot. The footbed is also removable making them suitable for orthotics, which gives you an idea of just how comfortable they are). I reckon I did my errands in half the time. And when it started to rain, they showed no sign of it afterwards. No water marks, despite the fact I hadn’t even protected them yet.
I’ve worn them every day since. With gym gear. Jeans. And dresses. With a 0.6 inch sole, they give me more height than your average trainer. My 7 year old said she’d like a pair and she’s a tough girl to influence (and one who hasn’t yet learned the art of tact).
So, I’ll take that as a good sign. And I think after years of stilettos, general abuse and less than comfortable footwear, my feet will thank me too.
You can visit Wolkyshop here or head to their store in Brighton. I also love their Biker and Vancouver ranges. Wolkyshop have kindly given me a pair of Quebecs (or something else from their range up to the value of £128.99) for my lovely readers! You can enter here… competition closes on 18 June 2016.
Thanks to Wolkyshop who kindly gave me my pair of trainers to review. All opinions remain my own.
